Story
309,500 people were diagnosed with cancer in the UK in 2008. This is around one person in every 200 people who is diagnosed with cancer EVERY year in the UK. Given the high rate of cancer, almost every one of UK knows someone who has had cancer.
If we assume an average lifespan of around 80 years, and make the naiive assumption that the probability of getting cancer is constant (1/200 per year), then 2 out of 5 of us will have cancer at some stage in our lives. This is a scary statistic.
Cancer research is an expensive and slow process and the more money is invested, the greater the chance of finding ways to overcome the disease.
Please help me raise money for cancer research!
