In memory of Fred Konynenburg
Suicide Prevention UK offers a freephone crisis helpline for anyone who is struggling, a bereavement service for those left behind navigating loss by suicide and foot patrol teams in SW UK providing in-person support, ensuring nobody faces their toughest hours alone. We are hope in the darkness.

Story

Fred Konynenburg 02/10/1969 - 09/11/2021

When Fred died on Tuesday 9 November the world lost someone truly brilliant.

He was a perfect contradiction - an amazingly talented and intelligent lawyer, and at the same time charmingly unassuming and infuriatingly disorganised. Above all he was gentle, kind and deeply loved.

Fred took his life after a short period of mental illness. Suicide leaves behind questions that we will never have answers to. However if one positive can come from losing dear Fred, it’s that we will try and reach someone who also finds themselves in a dark place. And then we can hopefully prevent another family from feeling as bereft as us.

Fred was born in Bristol, so it seems fitting that in his memory we support a local charity, which is why we’ve chosen Suicide Prevention Bristol.

Thank you for your donation in his memory.
