Every two hours, someone in the UK will become paralysed. Globally, it is estimated that 15.4 million people are living with paralysis. At Spinal Research our vision is to create a world where paralysis can be cured, no matter when the injury occurred or where in the world.

Story

I will be running the Great North Run 2023 to help raise funds and also awareness for Spinal Research. I have worked closely with spinally injured individuals for close to 10 years. I see the everyday challenges that they have to overcome and I help them to live life without limitations and to enjoy a  fulfilling life. One day I would like to see through research and technology a way that spinally injured people can live life without these challenges.

Spinal Research is the UK’s leading charity funding medical research around the world to develop effective treatments for paralysis caused by spinal cord injury. Every year 1,000 people in the UK and Ireland are paralysed following an injury to their spinal cord. We receive no government funding and rely entirely on the support of the public to raise funds for our research. Because of the efforts of our supporters, we have funded innovative medical research that has achieved a number of ground breaking changes in the field.
