Story

***************** NEW UPDATES ON BOTTOM ****************************

I am competing in the IRONMAN Triathlon 2010 in Bolton on 1st August.

The name is shorter than the race...... its a 2.5 mile swim in open water.....followed by a 112 mile cycle (yes that is 112 and not just 11.2).......followed by a full marathon of 26 miles.....

I am honoured to be competing on behalf of SCOPE and we would both be grateful if you would sponsor me for this event.

WHO IS SCOPE AND WHAT DO THEY DO?????   Scope is the UKs leading disability charity working with both adults and children with cerebral palsy. Cerebral palsy is a condition and not a disease.  If a person has this condition it means a part of their brain is not working properly or has not been developed.  This will have happened eitehr before they were born, around the time of birth or in early childhood and affects the part of the brain that controls muscles and certain body movements.  Cerebral palsy is more common that we think and can affect people from all backgrounds.  It is believed that currently 1 in every 400 children are affected, ie about 1800 babies are diagnosed in Britian each year.

Scope work with volunteer groups around the country to provide support to local services.  They run five schools and a college, plus provide mainstream educational support.  Their skills development centres offer disabled people the training and support they need to complete in the job market.

This page will be updated with my training progress upto the event........ Thankyou for your support............
