Story
Inspired by the great work being done by our charity of choice, Combat Stress, we would be delighted if you would attend the Art22 Show (link below) or donate generously to help raise funds to continue the successful Art therapy and Occupational Therapy programme at Combat Stress.
Combat Stress is the UK’s leading mental health charity for veterans, offering free clinical treatment and support to ex-servicemen and women with mental health conditions.
For many veterans receiving treatment from Combat Stress, Art therapy and Occupational Therapy are a key part of recovery
Art Therapy is a clinical treatment that combines creative expression with reflective discussion in order to encourage change. Things that can be hard to put into words like emotions or body sensations can find expression through art.
The art work provides a focal point that acts as a snapshot of what is going on in the mind and can help to make sense of thoughts and feelings. Creativity can open up new
ways of thinking and seeing, offering a resolution to rigid, repetitive thought patterns that block solutions and hamper recovery.
Occupational Therapy helps people deal with and recover from physical and mental stress and also injury and illness. Occupational Therapy does this by focusing on daily
occupations and helps to achieve a good balance between work, self-care and play. Working with occupational therapists helps to identify what matters to veterans and encourages them to engage in occupations that are meaningful to them, such as painting, model-making and music.
We would like your help in raising awareness and funds to support the vital work undertaken
by Combat Stress.
