Story
On July 10th I'm taking part in the British 10k London Run and raising money for the James Caan Foundation - Build a Village Project.
In a nutshell, the iniative aims to rebuild villages in Pakistan which were wiped out during the devastating floods of 2010. Various expert aid organisations will be involved, including Oxfam and UNICEF, by working collaboratively in their area of expertise, whether that be water or education for example, to ensure the villages are rebuilt efficiently and sustainably. Please visit http://www.thejcf.co.uk/ for more information on the Build a Village Project.
People who were already living below the poverty line lost everything they owned and even more, in the way of loved ones. Hospitals, schools, farms, houses, entire villlages were wiped out... without that infrastructure in place, those who did manage to survive the floods by some miracle may not survive for long. By donating today you can help to save and rebuild lives and futures.
Some stats on the 2010 floods which put into context the scale of the rebuild...
* More than 20 million people were affected (this is more people than the combined total of the 2004 Tsunami, the 2005 Pakistan earthquake and the 2010 Haitian earthquake!!! and over a 10th of Pakistan's populaiton)
* The area flooded was greater than the size of England....
Every little helps! seriously evvvveryyy little bit helps :-)
