Endless Opportunities for Extraordinary Adults

Story

Seth's Journey family,

We are excited to make you aware of a Community College/Adult day program for those with special needs, coming soon to Southeast Wisconsin. Matthias Academy will serve adults with moderate to severe disabilities, intellectual disabilities, specialized medical needs, behavioral needs and varying degrees of autism. Matthias Academy will offer opportunities, classes and experiences while bringing the surrounding community onto the campus.

As you may know Seth requires specialized medical assistance on a daily basis. What may not be apparent, are the severe cognitive challenges that he has developed as part of the disease progression/treatment/seizure activity etc. Socially he appears fine, but his invisible conditions are serious and require those that have experience with these challenges. I believe Matthias Academy staff is more than qualified to enable Seth to live his best life.

I have seen founder Liz in action in her professional career. Years ago, Seth and I were invited to a specialized school for special needs where she worked. I will never forget the impression it made on me. I was blessed to see the level of mutual respect, care, love and professionalism that was shared by staff, parents and students alike.

Seth is excited about the next step in his education, after he graduates this Spring. He has hopes and dreams just like any teenager. We know it is no coincidence, but feel divine intervention, that "The Field of Dreams" was purchased for this much needed program just down the road from our home. Young adults like Seth face many challenges finding continuing education. They have needs, yet they have so much to give. We believe Matthias Academy (Matthias meaning "gift of God") will prove to be both a blessing to us as well as a blessing to many.

Seth is looking forward to spending his school days in an environment with those that understand the physical, medical and cognitive challenges. He will be able to learn, work, grow and be challenged as an adult that makes a positive contribution and impact in their community.
Seth has told me repeatedly that he believes his gift is to help and encourage others that are facing challenges. Whatever capacity that may look like, that is where he feels called.

As you can imagine, there is a huge cost to starting such a specialized center. Your help in this building campaign is so appreciated!
If you would like to help children like Seth, we are asking you to hit the donate button and give in any way you feel led. You can be a part of making this vision a reality, from $5 to $5,000 every dollar counts! Thank you so very much for your love and support.
