This is the least I could do for all the nurses, mothers and families that bare any pain of a premature baby.
The support this amazing charity offered to my family and so many millions of other families, could never be repayed. A thank you never seems enough when you witness the loving care and support this charity provides.
Here is our story:
My beautiful darling nephew Shay was born weighing a mere 610g on the 26th October 2013. His due date for January 2014.
To sit with a doctor as a family and hear the words “we will do all we can” is something no mother, father or family ever want to hear.
The doctors and nurses worked tirelessly to keep him alive while supporting my sister and us as a family.
Seeing him so tiny and helpless, with tubes supporting every function of his body was devastating. His own fight and determination keeping him here.
Due to being premature, Shay had lots of medical needs which the doctors at UCH and The Whittington London worked and supported on. The efforts, love, support and care shown were simply phenomenal.
I could not be more grateful to this charity for helping support vital research into premature babies and giving us as a family 7, nearly 8 years of a life with Shay.
This run is for you my darling Shay. But also for every single parent and family who experiences pain caused by a premature baby.
Please give all you can so we can help all families who need the help and support of Tommy’s.
