Results for the challenges:
In 1st place came the Drivers in a time of 9hrs 55mins followed by the Walkers posting a time of 10hrs 45mins and the rotten eggs (the runners) came in last with a time of 11hrs 52mins. A HUGE thank you to all who have supported the teams.
At sunrise, on 12th September, teams of walkers, runners and motorists will be setting off from Horton in Ribblesdale to take part in a long distance 11 hour race to raise money for the Live Well Campaign.
Alzheimer's Society and Alzheimer Scotland, supporting the Live Well Campaign, is Lloyds Banking Group's charity partner for 2013 and 2014. Working together with the charities the aim is to raise £2million to fund the first UK wide dementia carers programme. The programme will give 9,000 carers the information and skills they need to help their loved one to live well with dementia.
The challenge/race - The Yorkshire Three Peaks takes in the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough. This involves about 39km (24.5m) of walking and climbing nearly 1,600 m (5,249 ft)
The Teams & Challenges are as follows:
The Walkers - Neil Castle, Julian Gostelow, Martin Parfitt, Simon Garton, Sam King & Pritpal Singh - Walk the Three Peaks Route in under 11 hours.
The Runners - Richard Henderson, Simon Lea, Adrian Burch, Ruth Girvan, Louise Needham & Stuart Rudd - Run the Three Peaks Route in relay TWICE (50 MILES!!!) in under 11 hours.
The Drivers - Richard Jones & Jonathan Limebear - Drive on the three highest roads in Yorkshire while driving to the furthest boundary points of the compass for the county in under 11 hours.
All teams start & finish point is Horton in Ribblesdale with the last team back being a rotten egg!
