Story
Hi, my name is Sharon and I’m fundraising in memory of my brave and strong Glenn. He was diagnosed with a very rare and aggressive small bowel cancer in February 2020 at the beginning of covid. He spent 3 months in hospital and during that time I couldn’t see him at all. He had an operation to save his life and he was left with a very high output stoma, this meant he couldnt absorb nutrients normally and had to be fed via an intravenous Hickman line over 12 hours per night, every night. He came home in June 2020 and we were told the cancer had gone. He looked forward to having a reversal of the stoma. He went to Salford Royal in August 2020 and was prepared over 2 months for a reversal, when scanned it was discovered the cancer had returned to his abdominal wall. We were reffered to The Christie hospital in Manchester in November 2020. He was given 6-12 months to live. Since that time he fought with such dignity and strength and at one point we thought he could go into remission but sadly, infections made him weaker and he didn’t respond as well to the different chemotherapy and treatments offered. Glenn sadly lost his fight to cancer on the 22nd May 2022, I was with him. I was so proud of him, I have some amazing memories to hold on to. One of Glenn’s wishes was to help people in the same situation as him, he wanted to raise as much money as he could to fight this unrelenting disease. Please help us to raise as much money as we can for The Christie Hospital. Many many thanks Sharon xx
