On the 23rd March 2022 I was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer. This came as a shock as the age for a mammogram is 50 and I was only 45. So my journey was about to begin.. I had my surgery on the 6th May and was told two weeks later how lucky I had been. The cancer was contained and they had successfully removed the tumour. I was also given the good news that the 4 nodes that they removed came back clear. I was then given my treatment plan on the 16th June and was told I would be attending the Beatson at Monklands Hospital to receive daily radiotherapy for two weeks. My last treatment was on the 25th July!! Ringing the bell 🛎 was very emotional as I had done it!! Now it’s just prevention and I will be on hormone treatment for the next ten years and receive yearly checks. 

The staff at the Beatson took really good care of me and this helped me get through my journey.  It’s good to give back to a special place that helps others like me to fight cancer xxx
