Story
On the 15th February 2011, this biggest motivation and inspiration in my life, my granddad, Eric Hyams, left this world after having lost his battle with cancer. He had spent the last month of his life in the amazing place that is St. Josephs Hospice, surrounded by some of the best staff and a warming and caring atmosphere. From the moment he entered that facility he was looked after and made as comfortable as possible, he was always content and relaxed and when he passed they gave my family so much support and help.
Eric Hyams spent his life giving back to the community whether it was through his job as a policeman or through various charities he supported and donated to in later life. And in his memory I want to raise money for a charity that supported him so well.
As Jospice is a charity, and although it does get some support through the NHS etc., 70% of its monetary requirements come from voluntary donations and fundraising. I am aiming to raise £210 for Jospice, which is enough to pay for a bed for a day in the hospice.
It costs £50 to enter the London 10K and so that all of your money that you donate goes to Jospice, E. Rex Makin Solicitors have given me a donation of £50 to cover this fee and I am very grateful for their generosity.
I am also eternally grateful to you all for your donations that you make, it is going to make those 10 kilometers feel like 10 steps knowing I have to all behind me, thank you!
