Story
You may pass by facilities like the Jessops wing and give them a cursory glance but until this happens to you or yours, you have no idea what goes on inside. The amount of equipment, monitors, drips and alarms is an assault on your senses initially, all hooked up to this tiny little baby. The sheer professionalism and dedication of all the staff, then hits you and gives you calming reassurance that Freddie is receiving the best care he can.
The feeling of helplessness overwhelms you, first for Freddie and also Liam and Tiff. As parents, we've been used to "fixing things" over the years, from a sticking plaster, homework, rolling the sleeves up through to opening the wallet, but there's nothing you can do other than help and support them as much as possible.
There's a long journey ahead, and we all count each step, but it's important to pause once in a while and take stock, look how far they've come and see how far there is to go, then continue along the path, knowing that you're going in the right direction.
I'll be attempting to walk 400 miles in 100 days, together with Nellie, our faithful Labrador.
Please help us support this amazing charity.
Thanks.
