MVT works on behalf of 800+ venues across the UK, providing sector support, lobbying, fundraising, networking and crisis support services. Our work emphasises the vital relationship between these venues and the artists they nurture - GMVs are the R&D department of the UK music industry.

Story

Chris Lee is a man who loves live music in a small venue so much he decided to build his own small venue in his back garden; and so Shedquarters was born.

Running a small venue can be challenging at the best of times but throw in a global pandemic that shut the world down and many are really struggling. Chris really missed going to gigs and wanted to do something to show his support to the places he loves. He came up with the idea of a sponsored walk from his venue Shedquarters to his favourite venue The Wedgewood Rooms. A journey of approx 10 miles if you squint at google maps. The Wedgewood Rooms are supporters of the Music Venue Trust so it all fits nicely. He mentioned it to 2 trusted friends who’d had a beer and agreed it was a good idea to walk 10 miles on a Sunday morning. So Sunday 13th June it’s happening.

For more about what the MVT is doing to support live music visit https://musicvenuetrust.com but it’s not just about providing money, they campaign on behalf of music venues and offer advice and support.

Even if you don’t really go to gigs but you enjoy listening to music remember that the bands playing the songs you enjoy probably honed their skills and developed those songs by playing them live. If you’re a music fan, please give whatever you can.

Thanks for reading, and your support.
