Story

Thanks for dropping by.

Starting at the end of April 2019 myself and a fellow hiker from Australia backpacked 1,600 miles up the western United States through several National Parks and 3 states.  The Pacific Crest Trail starts at the US / Mexican border in Campo, California and ends just over the US / Canadian border in Manning Park.  Bottom left to top left for those who aren't too hot at geography!

We carried everything we needed in our backpacks and wild camped along the way.  Our trek involve walking an average of 18 miles every day, for around 5 months, carrying at least 37lbs (17kgs) on our backs while negotiating terrain that was up to 4 times the height of Snowdon in places.  Throw in extreme heat and cold, a few bears, mountain lions, rattle snakes and poisonous plants and you've got the full picture.

Just to add a bit of drama into the mix, both myself and my hiking buddy, Katrina Hemingway, are Type 1 Diabetics.

My personal goal is to help inspire others who are living with Diabetes to get out there and take part in their own adventures. If I can help raise money for this fantastic charity in the process then I will be very happy indeed.
