The challenge was meant to be this time last year but after a year, we all didn’t expect we will be doing the challenge this year in May & June. Lindsay, my wife, is the reason why I am doing this challenge & lindsays story is below.

Lindsay’s story

2017 should have been the perfect year for Lindsay and I, we were expecting our first child and frantically searching for a house of our own. Unfortunately in October 2017, two months after our son Osian was born, Lindsay was diagnosed with breast cancer. One month later we were told Lindsay was mis-diagnosed, the cancer had already spread to her liver. She had Secondary breast cancer and was now incurable!

The general statistics for Lindsay’s cancer would give her 2-3 years to live. At a time when we should be enjoying our new house, our first child and our lives together, our lives were turned upside down. The news was devastating, hard to accept and we both had no idea what was in store over the next few weeks, months or even years. Everyone thinks this sort of thing doesn’t happen but they say now 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed in their lifetime.

Lindsay went on to have 6 lots of chemotherapy, which left her with life threatening sepsis, a mastectomy, surgery to remove two-thirds of her liver and still goes to Shooting Star to have targeted therapy every 3 weeks.  After 20 months of stress, worry and uncertainty, Lindsay had a CT scan in June 2019 and the results were outstanding! The oncologist gave us the news that the treatment and surgery were successful; NO ACTIVE DISEASE!!

The oncologist, surgeon, nurses, volunteers and everyone else in the Shooting Star Cancer Care unit in Wrexham hospital have been absolutely amazing during this very difficult time and obviously saved my truly remarkable wife!

I couldn’t say or give them enough to show how thankful we both are but as a thank you we are going to raise as much money as possible so hopefully more men and woman can hear them words... You are CLEAR!

We will be doing the below challenges in May/June 2021.

Sandstone trail Frodsham to Whitchurch - 22/05/2021

Walk from Glan Clwyd hospital to Wrexham hospital - 29/05/2020

Run half marathon (this should be Chester half, which I will be doing in September as well) - 05/06/2021

Sky dive - 12/06/2021

We will also be doing a raffle with some great prizes!

All money raised will be given to Shooting Star in Wrexham Hospital.

Thank you for reading Lindsays story and if anyone would like to join in on any of the challenges or donate anything towards the raffle please email If money raised helps one person the challenges will be worth it!
