MAG - Battersea Power Station Abseil · 2 May 2010 ·

Every single day, 13 people are killed or injured because of landmines and other explosive weapons. Half of all civilian casualties are children. MAG finds and destroys these weapons to save lives and rebuild futures; helping people to grow crops, attend school and build homes.

Story

Thanks for visiting. Grab a cup of tea and a biscuit, and read on. I've decided to do this charity abseil for two reasons;

1. An obsession with abandoned buildings,

2. MAG, the charity I am raising money for, remove mines from a number of locations around the world. Most notably for me, is Iraq especially Kurdish Iraq where my parents are from. Numerous conflicts have left the country sprinkled with unexploded mines, which I'm sure makes going for a nice country walk rather terrifying rather than relaxing.

Ok, so I'm under-selling it a bit; unexploded mines destroy lives. But you knew that already, right? So please donate an amount you are comfortable with and come to London on the 2nd May to watch me scare myself silly. =)

PS. Some of you are probably already aware that I've been having some health difficulties over the past half year. This charity event is effectively a kick up the arse and something for me to look forward to. I hope to see some of you there. =)
