Story
This year, we are embarking on our next crazy challenge, which is in memory of Lauren's beloved Grandma Sylvia, who she sadly lost in May 2018, as a result of Pancreatic Cancer.
Sylvia was energetic, full of life and Lauren's Number 1 fan, when it came to her running challenges. She faced her diagnosis head on, full of positivity and showed admirable strength throughout the last few months of her life. ...And let’s face it, for those of you who know Lozza, you can appreciate that anyone who played a hand in creating such a super star that is our Lozza, can only imagine what an incredibly special lady Sylvia must have been!
Over the last decade, less than one percent of UK cancer research spend has been directed towards pancreatic cancer. Pancreatic cancer needs bold investment to transform the future and to deliver the step change that can alter the outcome for those diagnosed with this devastating disease, and their families.
To raise money to support Pancreatic Cancer UK, we will be taking on the gruelling, but equally wonderful challenge of running 4 marathons, in 3 cities.
Giving myself an insanely short training time of just 8 weeks of training, I will be running the home turf Manchester Marathon on the 7th April.
Lauren will then be travelling to Edinburgh, with an army of supporters and runners to take part in the Edinburgh Marathon. This will take place on the 26th May and will mark the first Anniversary of Sylvia's death. A marathon of memories, in many ways!
For our final challenge, we will be reunited, in ‘runners matrimony’ to take on the Berlin Marathon, on the 29th September.
Although we said that we wouldn’t be pestering our friends and families for sponsorship again, after your generosity through our London Marathon challenge... (we lied!) BUT raising money for Pancreatic Cancer UK is all about keeping Sylvia’s legacy out there and spreading awareness so we hope that you’ll let us off.
Our lives over the next few months will, unapologetically, be focused on training, running marathons and fundraising and we really do value the support of our Friends, Families&Colleagues so whether its donations, coming to cheer us on or sharing our posts on social media we will be forever appreciative.
Lots of love
Sian and Lozza xxx
