Story

Simon and Sandra:  Naturally!

We are supporting Salisbury Hospice following the amazing warmth and care that we experienced during Simon’s dads final weeks in 2017; such a lovely team in a peaceful setting was a comfort for us all.

Simon, originally from Salisbury, learned to dance Ballroom at the Wellington School of Dancing in his youth.  Now living in London and having had a break from dancing for over 20 years, Simon recently returned to dancing at the Karen Hardy Dance Studio.

Sandra has often wondered if she could learn to dance and early in 2017 began learning Latin dances.  Thirty plus years of aerobics and turning on a bent leg brings the challenge of doing so on a straight leg and in 3 inch heels; feels unnatural and a very tall mountain to climb. This will be her first time dancing in public.

We are close friends and yet we haven’t danced together beyond a few steps around the front room. With the support of our creative and exacting teacher learning together has begun, with the whole 'who’s leading' and 'who’s following’ being a challenge, as we head towards the 21st of September.  You can follow our progress on Simon’s Instagram page: https://www.instagram.com/naughtyclefairy/

We appreciate all the support from friends and family, and look forward to raising money for the Hospice Charity.  We thank-you for any donations and would really love it if you are able to join us at the event in September to watch our performance!

UPDATE:  The event was postponed from September 2019 and is now taking place on Saturday March 14 2020.  Now at Salisbury Arts Centre and tickets to come along and watch are only £15 per person (plus a booking fee).  It would be great if you could come along and cheer Sandra and I along, on the night.  Tickets available through the Salisbury Hospice website www.salisburyhospicecharity.org.uk

About the charity

The hospice costs £2.9 million to run, with Salisbury Hospice Charity aiming to raise £1.5 million of the funding required. Over 1,000 people a year are helped both in the hospice and in the wider community. Without your help this could not have been achieved. Thank you.
