Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

 

 I am teaming up with Rich and Becky, and doing the ESCAPE and EVADE student event of the year.  It is run through our students union here at Loughborough and involves having one weekend to get as far away from Loughborough as possible! It is from the 20th to the 22nd of November!

Armed with only a letter of authenticity, an official t-shirt and all the chat we can muster, me Becky and Rich are challenged to get as far away AND back, in one adrenalin filled weekend! we're going to have to blag bus drivers, charm cabbies, hop on ferries and persuade that lovely woman at the BA flight desk that she does want us to experience the beautiful beaches of Brazil. For free.

We have to travel without spending a penny- so if we can't blag food, we don't eat for the weekend!

There have been teams make it to Spain, Greece, Canada, Florida, the Canary Islands and the all-time record: One Loughborough team made it an ENORMOUS 4410 miles all the way to Trinidad!!!

But although we are going to have copious amounts of fun, it is a charity event and we are trying to raise as much as possible for Help The Aged.  So I know most of you are students, but anything you can give me would help me out immensely.

Help The Aged do amazing work, and the money i raise will be going to projects internationally to help stop neglect, poverty and isolation. Below is an example of one project they run that comes into action when disasters hit.

In crises, we offer support to older people who have been affected,

Lack of mobility and social isolation can prevent older people from accessing relief assistance - they may not be able to fight for aid packages, for example, or travel long distances to reach rescue camps.

'I have been pushed out and have fallen on the ground. I know I will get nothing this time round too. The fastest get the food, the strongest wins. Older people and the injured don’t get anything.'

Following the tsunami, our partner HelpAge India organised separate relief distributions for vulnerable people. Seating was provided and transport arranged to collection points
