2010 British 10K London run · 11 July 2010 ·

Starlight is the UK’s leading charity for children’s play in hospitals and hospices. We work to ensure every child can experience the power of play, supporting their mental and physical health during treatment and recovery from illness.

Story

I found out about the charity Starlight last year when they gave a wish to my son Angus.  This incredible charity arranged for him to go to the whole 5 day Lords Ashes test match last summer (which they won for the first time in 75 years!) and organised his stay in a central hotel.  Through the charity, the cricket commentator Mark Nicholas arranged for Angus to meet the England team at their hotel, and during the five day test, cricket heroes like Richie Benaud, Shane Warne and Sir Ian Botham.

Seeing what this experience meant to Angus, who has had years of neurological problems, inspired me to raise money so that another ill child could have their own wish granted which I saw made a huge difference to Angus’s life.

Up to this year, I had never run a mile in my life when I decided to take on this challenge to raise funds for Starlight and also just to spread the word about this fantastic organisation.

Give generously, thank you... my target is £ 500 so every penny counts!
