Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I thought it was about time I did some of my own fundraising for MRF and I have roped my brother in too. Over the past couple of years I have heard some heartbreaking stories from our members who have been affected by meningitis as well as many uplifting ones.
Meningitis & septicaemia – the blood poisoning form of the disease can strike people of any age at any time, but most cases are in babies, toddlers and young adults. They can kill in hours, people who are faced with them have to act fast to save a life, until there are vaccines that prevent all major forms of the diseases, the importance of improved treatment, better diagnosis and increased awareness is paramount.
MRF funds research into the detection, prevention & treatment of meningitis and septicaemia. We also provide education to the public about signs and symptoms and action that must be taken, as well as offering befriending and support to those affected.
Last year over two hundred and twenty people throughout Scotland contracted meningitis or septicaemia. Tragically there were over thirty deaths and one in four of those affected will be left with life limiting after effects as serious as deafness, blindness, brain damage and amputations.
Please help raise much-needed funds for MRF to continue its vital research into the detection, prevention & treatment of meningitis and septicaemia.
