In the UK, the single biggest killer of young men under 45, is suicide. 

During my election campaign, I said that politicians should put their money where their mouth is, they should be passionate about something, and most importantly, they should show leadership and have purpose. 

That’s why, I have decided to donate a sum of my Councillor allowance to the charity CALM - the only charity in the UK dedicated to preventing male suicide.

But I am prepared to go much further then this. Later this year in October I intend to run the Birmingham Half Marathon (13.1 miles) to raise money for the cause.
