The Cedar Backoffice team (Kirsty, Cameron, Shenelle, Aimee, Stephen, Antoine and Simon) have decided that, this year, we will be supporting Crisis by taking part in a number of 'Chilly Challenges'. Sometimes it is easy to take the very basics elements of our lives for granted and forget how privileged we really are. I think we can all appreciate that this year has been tough for everyone but for some it has been so much harder. So many people have lost their jobs whilst industries grind to halt, taking away their income, their security and their homes. As our office is located in heart of London's West End, we see the harsh reality of this situation becoming more evident, with the number of homeless people sleeping rough, rising by the day. It is hard to not appreciate our privileged position especially as we progress into the winter months and the days get colder and wetter. We would therefore like to do something to not only raise some cash and awareness but to also help us appreciate just how tough it can be by putting ourselves in the shoes of the less fortunate so we will undergo a series of challenges. The first two will be: • A winter sleep-out. Obviously, with current lockdown restrictions, we are limited to doing this in our own gardens but we will aim to keep our resources to the bare minimum in order to replicate ‘sleeping rough’ as authentically as we can. • A Month of cold showers – for those of the team who are unable to spend a night sleeping out, they will shower in cold water daily for an entire month. We would really appreciate any spare cash you can offer to the cause and we will of course keep you posted as we navigate our way through the challenges.
