I have been selected by VSO (Voluntary Service Overseas) to work overseas for 2 years from Autumn 2010. As of 11th March I know that I will be working in Zanzibar, Tanzania, as a Tourism Training Development Assistant and I will be leaving the UK on 31st August. 

VSO works as an international development charity that works with volunteers in over 30 countries of the world to fight global poverty and disadvantage by bringing together people to share skills and learning to build a fairer world. 

VSO does not expect its volunteers to raise money to fund their placement. VSO pays for fares, insurance and training (both before and during the placement). The placement employer (a government or NGO) pays a subsistence amount and provides accommodation. Most of VSO's funds come from DfID, although it is increasingly expected to raise more of its own funds. It cost £15,000 to send a volunteer overseas, and as a future volunteer I am planning to contribute at least £1,000 funds towards the cost.

I am therefore asking your support - not to support me specifically but to support VSO's work generally. Any donation will be appreciated.

Ich bin von VSO (Voluntary Service Overseas) angenommen worden, und werde ab Herbst 2010 fuer 2 Jahre im Ausland arbeiten. Seit dem 11 Maerz weiss ich, dass ich in Sansibar, Tansania, als Assistent in einem Tourism Training Institut arbeiten werde, und ich werde am 31ten August fliegen. 

VSO ist eine Entwicklungshilfeorganisation und arbeitet in ueber 30 Laendern um die globale Armut und Benachteiligung zu bekaempfen. Dies geschieht durch Freiwilligen, die ihre Faehigkeiten und Erfahrung mit Einheimischen teilen um eine gerechtere Welt zu schaffen.  

VSO erwartet von den Freiwilligen nicht, das Geld fuer die Stelle durch Spenden zu sammeln, da Kosten fuer Reise, Versicherung, und Ausbildung uebernommen werden. Der Arbeitgeber vor Ort stellt Unterhalt und Unterkunft. VSO erhaelt finanzielle Unterstuetzung von dem britischem Ministerium fuer Internationale Entwicklung, aber es wird mehr und mehr erwartet die Kosten durch Spenden zu decken. Es kostet £15,000 um einen Freiwilligen ins Ausland zu verschicken, and als zukuenftiger Freiwillger plane ich £1,000 dazu beizutragen. 

Daher bitte ich alle meine Familie, Freunde und Kollegen um Unterstuetzung - nicht fuer mich speziell, aber fuer VSO. Ob klein oder gross - ich freu mich ueber jeden Beitrag.

Also bitte - guckt in die Taschen ob da nicht ein paar Euros uebrig sind fuer den guten Zweck.
