Story
Welcome to my VHI Women's Mini Marathon 2023 challenge page. I am taking part in this challenge to support the little patients and the staff in Children's Health Ireland hospitals and urgent care centres.
When I was 2 years old, I poured a full tea pot on top of myself. I was left scalded with third degree burns. I was brought up to Crumlins Children’s Hospital to the Burns Unit where I was under the care of the hospital for three weeks. It was an extremely tough 3 weeks for myself and my family. Crumlin Children’s Hospital took extremely great care of me and I am very lucky and grateful to be standing here today. They saved my life. And now I want to give back by running the mini marathon and raising much needed funds for sick children just like me when I was little.
Each and every day across CHI hospitals and urgent care centres in Connolly, Crumlin, Tallaght and Temple Street, sick children and their worried parents are coming through the doors in need of world-class paediatric care and treatment. Please join me in supporting this essential, urgent and life-saving work and make a real and lasting difference in the lives of sick children. Please donate what you can to help give every sick child every chance, to create a child-centred, home-from-home environment for patients in hospital and to ensure that children continue to have access to the very best facilities, services and equipment when they need it most. This is the power of your support.
