Story
Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever. Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
Sisters Janet Elizabeth, Helen and Louisa Ann are covering a variety of distances to help with #runningdowndementia - 3k, 10k, and 10k+13.1miles respectively. The events are the 3k fun run on 1st September, the same day as the Middlesbrough 10k, and the Redcar half marathon on 29th September.
In our lives in community, we have known sisters - now gone to glory - who had a dementia diagnosis, and we have sisters with us now who are currently living with dementia. In our parish work and hospitality work, we also are alongside a lot of people who are also living with dementia in a variety of forms.
We know diseases aren't personal, but dementia feels like it at times. It affects not just the person with the diagnosis but everyone who knows them. We'd love it if you could help us play a part in finding a way to beat this disease!
