We aim to enable patients with life limiting conditions to live life as fully as possible and make the most of the time they have, as well as supporting their loved ones.
It costs almost £4m a year to provide vital free care services and we rely heavily on the support from our community.
Story
Dear all
Linda Marilyn Walton was born on the 23/1/1950 and sadly passed away on 25/2/2010, she was wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by those that knew and loved her.
In early 2009 Mum was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer, though reeling with shock she sought to first protect those closest from the horrors of when the word the cancer enters a family. She also fought this debilitating disease with a strength that belied her small stature. She never complained, she just got on with it. Once the shock had lessened somewhat Mum made two targets to aim for - one to get to her 25th Wedding Anniversary and second to her 60th birthday. She made both and celebrated them surrounded by family, it also meant she beat the odds of the 6-8 month survival rate.
As this awful disease took further hold Mum entered Katharine House Hospice, and it is to the staff of the wonderful place that we cannot express enough gratitude. Not only did they treat Mum with kindness and grace they supported the family too. They kept her company when we could not be there and held our hands when we could. Right up until the end they gave Mum the dignity that we are all entitled to.
Katherine House is a charity that gets no funding from the government and relies solely on donations. If you are visiting this page it is because you know my family and I ask that you give whatever you can afford in Linda’s memory. As it will make a difference, without Katharine House this unbearable time would have been infinitely harder.
Thank you.
