Story

As most of you all know by now, Ozzy was born with Gastroschisis. Meaning that his small and large intestines, bladder and stomach developed outside of his abdomen. He was transferred to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital almost immediately after birth and had a 5 hour surgery to put his organs back inside his body.

We were looked after so well by all of the doctors and nurses on the surgical neonatal ward after 2 days in critical care. I still remember their names and their faces. Mary, Anne, Sarah, Colin, and of course Ozzy’s wonderful surgeon Mr Partridge who we still see now.

During October Ozzy will be walking 31 miles to raise money and awareness for Alder Hey. This money goes towards things like providing support for grieving families, play equipment, school resources etc.

We’ve had 3 inpatient stays since Ozzy was born due to recurring bowel obstructions and we will be under their care for years to come.

I know that times are hard, and we’re all feeling it with the cost of living, but please help Ozzy to reach his target of £150

You don’t think you’ll ever need a hospital like Alder Hey, but as a family who are very familiar with it now all I can say is thank goodness we have it so close by. It truly is a wonderful place. ♥️
