Hi, thanks for visiting our Just Giving page and for choosing to help us to support this amazing charity.
Lucy and I are both therapists and have come together to organize Events with a difference in aid of Rockinghorse, a charity close to both our hearts.
About Me (Lucia Cooper)
Take to the skies with Rockinghorse Tandem 12,000ft Skydive !
Hi there,
Hope you are having a great day!
First of all on a serious note Lucy and I would like to thank you for donating and helping us to support Rockinghorse Children's Charity. We believe children are the future and they are our hope for a better one.
Rockinghorse brings hope to families in challenging times, improving the quality of life for some of the most vulnerable children in Sussex and Surrey. Unfortunately, many of the children, live with life threatening conditions, profound physical or learning disabilities or have complex medical needs. Rocking Horse , works in partnership with respite centres and children’s hospitals, and strives to make services stimulating, cutting edge and accessible for the many babies, children and teenagers who need them.
I am sure many of you (I know Lucy is) might be thinking “ARE YOU MAD? Why would you want to jump out of a plane, freefall 5,000ft and glide the rest!”.
Well, to be precise, is going to be 12,000ft. LOL!
Well, it is because I do believe that it is a very good cause. At least I am healthy and all I have to conquer is the fear of jumping out of a plane unlike some of these children, which are terminally ill.
And let’s face it, me doing a marathon!? Could you see me doing that? I don't think I can do a 2 metres run, let alone a marathon! hahaha
Seriously though, I always wanted to feel the adrenaline of jumping out the plane, feel the total freedom and peace gliding through the beautiful creation that often we forget to appreciate.
My husband and Lucy, think I am totally bonkers and they are terrified for me. But I am lucky, because they will support me no matter what. I am sure that they are both proud of me for attempting things and putting myself in positions they would never and even more, because it is for a Great Cause and Charity.
I need to raise a minimum of £420.00 in order to FREE Skydive, but I would like to raise at least £500 for the charity.
So, if you want to grant me my wish, donate, donate, donate ...............
About The Charity
Dr Trevor Mann, founded Rockinghorse in 1968 as the Royal Alexandra Hospital for Sick Children Centenary Fund.
Together with his colleagues, it was recognised that the face of children’s healthcare was changing. As newer and more expensive technologies were being developed, new sources of funding were needed, in order to offer children the excellent standards of care that they deserved.
Thanks to the charity, Brighton was one of the first places in the country to have a ventilator designed to breathe for tiny and premature babies, who may not previously have survived. Doctors were also able to carry out pioneering research into new areas of medicine such as neonatal care and oncology.
In 2006 Rockinghorse launched a major £1million appeal to help fund the new Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital. Since then, we have continued to provide equipment for the Alex and other children’s hospitals that serve Sussex’s children as well as providing equipment, facilities and activities for children with complex health needs and profound and multiple disabilities in respite centres across the county and beyond.
In 2010 Rockinghorse expanded its support into Surrey, launching fundraising appeals in Reigate and Redhill.
