Hello!
Thank you for visiting our Just Giving page, we hope to see you at the Southend Shakedown on the 5th April, however if you can't join us, please help by making a donation here and now.
So what is this all about?
On EasterMonday 5 April 2010 thousands of motorcyclists will join together to raise funds for the NSPCC by taking part in Ace Cafe London’s 12th Annual Southend Shakedown. Organised by the world famous “Ace” in North London, the event has become an Easter Bank Holiday motorcycling institution, with riders travelling from Ace Cafe London around the North Circular Road, making their way to Southend along the A12 for a day of fun in the popular seaside town.
Ace Cafe London's MD Mark Wilsmore said, "Being held at Easter with its tradition of giving, the cafe's annual Southend Shakedown always includes a charity aspect focusing on children. This year Ace Cafe London is supporting the NSPCC, we hope that you will too".
However you don't have to attend the event to donate, please support the NSPCC Child's Voice Appeal by donating online, now.
Money raised at this year’s event will go towards the charity’s Child’s Voice Appeal, which aims to develop and expand the ChildLine and adult helpline services. Between April 2008 – March 2009, 3116 individual callers in Essex called ChildLine, in the same time frame the Helpline service received an estimated 2079 calls from adults with concerns about a child that originated in Essex and the surrounding areas. Landline and payphone calls represent only 24 per cent of the calls ChildLine receives.
Since the Child’s Voice Appeal launched it has raised £25.7million. The funding has enabled ChildLine to counsel over 1 million calls from children and young people. That’s the equivalent of 33,000 classrooms full of children. Funding has also allowed our Helpline to answer more than 50,000 calls. Despite the successes, the NSPCC still urgently needs to continue to raise funds to develop the services even further. Your ongoing support at events like the Southend Shakedown is critical in enabling the charity to train more counsellors, develop the services as technology evolves and answer even more cries for help from children.
Motorcycling legend Carl Fogarty said, "I have been a keen supporter of the NSPCC for many years and I want to help them as much as I can to support their work with vulnerable and abused children. I would encourage everyone taking part in the Ace Cafe Southend Shakedown to do whatever they can to help, no donation is too small, every little really does make a difference. Having two daughters of my own and knowing how much love and care they get makes me think about the unfortunate children who don't receive any. It is important people play their part in helping to end cruelty to children in any way they can."
To take part in the Southend Shakedown and help raise vital funds for the NSPCC be ready at the Ace Cafe London with everyone departing at 10.30am; Ace Cafe London, Ace Corner, North Circular Road,Stonebridge, London, NW10 7UD on Monday 5 April, visit www.ace-cafe-london.com for more
