Story

Manchester Baroque and Manchester Cathedral are supporting UK-Med's Ukraine appeal. They will donate 100% of ticket sales from their annual Good Friday concert to support the people of Ukraine, as well as any additional donations.

The Passion carries deep symbolic significance. With
its heavy reliance on the evocative traditional text, its performances demand reflection from its listeners to fully appreciate the deliberate transition from chaos and turmoil to a bittersweet resolution, coloured by a sense of common humanity.

UK-Med is a frontline medical aid charity. For more than 25 years, its team of NHS and international doctors, nurses and allied healthcare experts have provided lifesaving support to those affected by crises or disasters around the world. UK-Med is currently working to provide on the ground medical support to medics in Western Ukraine.

The performance of Bach’s seminal work will take place at 7.30 pm on Good Friday, April 15th at Manchester Cathedral. Conducted by Christopher Stokes, the Cathedral’s Organist & Master of the Choristers, it will bring together the Cathedral singers, Manchester Baroque led by Pauline Nobes, and soloists Angela Hicks, Marcus Farnsworth and Andrew Tortise. Tickets can be bought via Eventbrite.
