Hi, thanks for visiting my fundraising page for Warwick in Africa!

Warwick in Africa is a scheme organised by the University of Warwick that I first became involved in back in 2008 when I travelled to Johannesburg, South Africa to teach Maths in the township schools.

In 2009 the project expanded into Ghana where I helped establish a summer school teaching Maths, English and extra-curricular activities in the local schools in Accra, Ghana’s capital city.

Three years later I am involved in the project again, travelling back to Ghana (on 21 July) to teach Maths in the summer schools and also set up more summer schools in rural parts of Ghana.

The children that come to these summer schools often walk miles to attend and also give up their summer holiday and summer jobs to further their education.

It costs £15 to allow one child to attend the summer school for the month.

All of your donations will go directly to continuing the project as it costs over £3000 to send each teacher.

I am giving up my summer holiday to volunteer as a teacher in these summer schools as I believe strongly that education is the key to children born into poverty being able to create better lives for themselves. In the last 7 years of the project, 120,000 African students have had access to an improved education and 780 of their African teachers have had access to master classes of how to improve their teaching practice. Your donations will be the reason the numbers of people reached by the project increase!
