DSUK Mission statement: To promote equality and opportunity for people with disabilities to take part in snowsports and to help improve their enjoyment and standard of performance at the level of their choice.
At the heart of our plans is our desire to increase opportunities, fitness, mobility, freedom, social interaction, independence and skill of people with disabilities, and to identify and nurture the abilities of young potential athletes. A disabled person chooses both freedom and independence when they snap into bindings or transfer from a wheelchair to sit ski. They also make a choice to actively access adventure, a choice that is made possible by the work of Disability Snowsport uk, in spite of chronic health problems and physical and/or learning disabilities.
Snowsports provide disabled people with a method to conquer the barriers that confront them in daily life.
We seek to help individuals or groups to improve their quality of life and transfer the benefits gained from taking part in Snowsport into their everyday life. Each week we witness how our work helps physical and cognitive development, as well as improving social and emotional skills.
That's why on Monday 11th June 2012, I am joining a team of skiers who have been challenged to ski 2012 runs in six hours at Tamworth Snowdome. Likely to be impossible. However your help counts in the long run and on the day. The more we raise the less we have to ski. Please sponsor me.Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
