Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my page, even
if you don’t donate, this is also about awareness so the more people that read this, the better!
Crohn’s disease and Ulcerative Colitis are the two main types of inflammatory bowel disease, affecting more than 300,000 people in the UK, it's a chronic disease which means it's ongoing and life-long. It’s known as an invisible illness because very often sufferers do not look ill but can be in a lot of pain, bowel issues tend to have a taboo attached so it can be embarrassing to talk about.
In 2014 I had an operation to remove 30cm of diseased bowel and narrowly avoided having a colostomy bag thanks to new research led treatment at the time. Due to advances in medication, this year I was told my Crohn’s is in remission for the first time since I was diagnosed aged 12, it’s not a cure but the research this charity funds is essential in the road to finding one and improving sufferer’s quality of life along the way.
It’s safe to say that I do not enjoy running and I’m by no means fast however through being ill I have grown to appreciate the fact that I can run because there have been many times that I have been too sick to move.
This will be the hardest thing I’ve ever done but also the most rewarding, I want to show others that are diagnosed that it doesn’t have to stop you from achieving things and also on behalf of all those that are currently unable to do something like this.
If you can, I would greatly appreciate any donation, big or small, to this amazing charity, I know that every penny raised will push me round those 26.2 miles! I can also promise you I will only be doing this once!
Thank you so so much :) xxx
