Far too many of us have felt the pain of losing someone we love. With your donations, we power groundbreaking cardiovascular research to save and improve lives, bring hope to families, and keep hearts beating across the UK.

Story

In less than 80 days on the 27th June 2010 Steve Pratt and Ed Watson will be taking part in an ultra-endurance event, the Ironman France. An Ironman consists of a 2.4 mile sea swim, 112 mile bike ride and to finish it all off a modest run of marathon distance (26.2 mile run). All of this has to be completed in under 16 hours...yep all in one go :-) !!! (check it out yourself if you don't believe us http://www.ironmanfrance.com/)

Both Ed and I decided to enter this event in July last year, at the time is seemed like a fantastic idea despite being in no physical condition, our limited endurance event experience consists of a mere 5 half marathons completed between the two of us. Having never completed a marathon nor any triathlon based events before we are confident to finish the Ironman France by utilising our sport science based knowledge and our sheer determination not to fail as I'm sure many of you will have seen in our characters before.

Knowing the extent of the challenge ahead of us, the beginning of 2010 kick started us into training with the realisation that only 6 months lay between us and the finishing line on the promenade in Nice. We have both committed vast amounts of time and money into this event averaging between 10-15 hours per week in the pool and on the road, whilst maintaining our studies at university and a combined finacial commitment of over 1000 units of the queens head in total.

We would greatly appreciate any amount of money to be pledged toward our charity of choice, The British heart Foundation. Initially we had decided to do this event for personal achievement but we have also seen the opportunity to raise some money for what we believe is a great charity. We have chosen to raise money for the British Heart Foundation as members of both of our families have suffered from heart disease and have had major heart surgery. The British Heart Foundation uses money raised to go towards leading scientific and clinical research, education and providing quality care and support to aid the prevention of the numerous cardiac conditions that we all can and could suffer from.

We aim to pledge as much money as possible to The British Heart Foundation, so please raid your sofas for those pennies that fall into those infamous nooks and crannies and support us both as the end is nearing to our personal challenge but the beginning of our charitable case is beginning.
