Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my Just Giving page.

After getting hooked on triathlons, I’ve decided to do the ultimate challenge, an Ironman!!

A 3500 metre (2.8 miles)  open water swim , followed by a 180km (112 miles) bike section and then if that isn’t enough a 42km (marathon) run to finish!!

Seeing as this is a rather big challenge, I thought I’d be mad not to raise some money for a charity very close to my heart in the process.

So, I'm doing this for the Macmillan charity who provide an invaluable service to people with cancer and support the sufferers and the families through a very difficult time. I am also entering the Outlaw triathlon in memory of my Mum who passed away just over 4 years ago from cancer, and was supported greatly by the Macmillan trust. I think she would be proud but more likely think Im crazy like most people that I speak too!

I have been training for this for the last 9 months and it has now taken over my life until it is over with! 4.20 am alarms to get a bit of training in before work, lunchtime sessions, evening sessions, days booked off work for a full day session! And not to mention pretty much the whole weekend at the moment! – Still I have promised Amy that this is the first and the last Ironman I will ever do, as she’s getting pretty fed up of it!!! My thoughts may change after I complete it and then knowing my competitiveness will want to better my time next year!! Whether I’m allowed to or not is another thing!!

So, Please dig deep any money you can spare will go a long way to helping this worthwhile charity and help encourage me over the finish line, whether it be running or crawling on hands and knees as some people have done previously.

Once again thank you so much for your support and if your free on the day please come along and watch, it should be a good day out!!

Steve
