Story
I love running and enjoy giving back when I can. During the current covid-19 pandemic many people aren't able to get out and do what we all took for granted, in the UK we have the chance to get out once a day to exercise so I am making the most of this opportunity and wanted to find a way to give something back.
I have only ever entered 6 mile races but have run longer distances, the most I have run is half marathon distances (21km). I have been considering entering a longer race, possibly half marathon, for a little while and as organised races are all being cancelled due to the covid-19 pandemic I decided a virtual run was the best way to go.
We are advised not to over exercise as this can weaken the immune system making it easier to fall victim to the coronavirus. Because of this I decided to do the half marathon in 2 runs rather than risking my immune system by doing it in one go, I am asthmatic so I am already in a high risk category.
The charity I decided to raise money for helps to put fun and inclusion back into the lives of those with physical disabilities, something most people take for granted.
I know money is tight in the current climate so I am not aiming to break any fund raising records but I would like to help in my own small way so anything you can spare would be appreciated.
