Action for children have over 600 services that improve the lives of 370,000 children, teenagers, parents and carers every year. One of these projects is The Youth Support Team based in Pontypridd who work with young people aged 16-25.  Most of these young people have just come out of the care system, some have been homeless, sofa surfing or living in hostels. 

Often the young person will only the have the clothes on their back, they may not know anyone locally and have no family networks.  The Youth support Team will help by providing them with an emergency bag, or starter pack and help them set up home once they have accommodation. They will also support them to retain their tenancy as well as offering them advice and support with budgeting, form filling and access to employment and training.

Your support would purchase emergency bags and home starter packs.  The emergency pack includes basic items such as toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo/conditioner.  This simple pack allows these young people to be clean and look good which greatly improves their feeling of self-worth and confidence.

Starter packs cost £250 and include items such as dinner set, cutlery, vacuum cleaner and soft furnishings to help give a homely feel and make their flat somewhere they want to spend time and feel proud to live.

These items are all things most of us take for granted and those of us with children would be horrified to think they were living without these basic essentials.  Any donation would be greatly appreciated however small or large.
