Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page(s).

Postpartum Psychosis (PP) is a severe mental illness which begins suddenly following childbirth. Over 1400 women experience PP each year in the UK.  In 2000, Sue was one of them, after Alex was born.

An episode of PP can be very frightening for women and their families: it certainly was for us.  Most women go on to make a full recovery, but the journey to full recovery can be long and difficult.

At the time there was little or no information available about what was happening to us, what had triggered it, and what might happen next.  There was no scope for Alex to stay with Sue in hospital, and little  support for her as a mother or for Iain as the (unexpected) sole carer...

We wholeheartedly wish that something like APP had been operational then, and are very pleased that this charity is now working to support parents facing a similar situation now.

Thank you so much for any contribution you can make.  Please remember to gift aid too if you can.
