Story

I don’t trek, hike, ramble or climb! I don’t camp, do porta loos, like bugs or extreme temperatures – what on earth am I doing!?!

Well, I have decided to set myself a personal challenge and in so doing raise much needed funds in aid of Willen Hospice, a charity who totally rely on fundraising support of the local community to enable them to continue to offer vital services, free of charge, 365 days of the year!

I will be trekking, yes, trekking Mount Kilimanjaro in January 2024!! The mountain is Africa’s highest peak and the highest free-standing mountain in the world at 5895m!!  The ascent of the mountain is climatically like walking from the equator to the pole in a week, with increasing altitude providing a very distinct range of zones, from tropical rainforest to moorland, alpine desert, and finally to the polar conditions of the summit.

This will be challenging on so many levels, both physical and mentally but pales in comparison to the pain and suffering of many, whom without these essential services, things would be so much harder for people and their loved ones.

Please help me fundraise for this worthy cause.  I know times are tough, but anything you can give, no matter how small will be greatly received and appreciated by myself and Willen Hospice, as well as giving me an enormous boost of encouragement and motivation which I will definitely need!

A heartfelt thank you in advance!
Sue
