Please help me to make a special wish come true
In just 6 weeks time I will be embarking upon a 10 day cycle challenge from Ho Chi Minh in Vietnam (formerly Saigon) through the rice paddies and waterways of the Mekong Delta to Angkor Wat in Cambodia in order to raise funds for the children’s charity Make-A-Wish.
Whilst the insight into the local culture will be fascinating, the long hot dusty days in the saddle may prove very challenging! (Not to mention the mosquitoes!)
Make-A-Wish Foundation® UK grants magical wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening illnesses. Since being established in the UK in 1986, they have granted over 6,900 wishes.
There are 20,000 children and young people living in the UK with a life-threatening illness. This year alone 1,200 children will turn to Make- A–Wish to have their special wish granted, and they want to be able to grant a wish to every one of these. Make-A-Wish needs to raise £5.5m in 2011 to achieve this.
The wishes may be wishes to be, to have, to go, or to meet, and the cost to fund a wish can vary greatly from a few hundred to many thousands.
My target is to raise £500 so that I can make at least one special wish come true, and I would be really grateful if you could help me achieve this. I have funded the trip myself, so your donation will go directly to the Charity. Any funds that I raise may also be matched by DHL Foundation.
You can be sure that your donation however large or small will help to grant wishes, quickly and effectively, to some of the most deserving young people you can imagine.
Many thanks – and wish me luck!
Love Sue
