Sue; Back in 1999, my sister Jan was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. The support of the Macmillan nurses during and after her illness was invaluable. Not only did they make Jan's final months comfortable, they were there to support me and the rest of my family through such a tragic time.

Coral; I am doing this to raise money and awareness for the Macmillan Nurses. This is my way of saying THANK YOU for the care and support I anticipate that they will provide in the weeks to come for my Dad, myself and my family. My Dad was diagnosed with terminal oesophageal cancer in June 2012 and is still bravely fighting away.

A Father is neither an anchor to hold us back,

nor a sail to take us there,

but a guiding light whose love shows us the way.

Dad I love you very much, people say we are very much alike, I hope that is true as you are my inspiration, everything you have ever done has always been for us and if I end up achieving a small amount of what you have I will be proud to say it was because of you. 

As a way of showing our appreciation, we have decided to part with our most valuable asset (no, not the other half!) but our hair. The funds raised will enable Macmillan to continue with their fantastic work and help other families through such emotional and physical difficulty.

The event will be taking place at Stanford Rugby Club on the 6th October 2013 and the hair collected will be donated to the 'Little Princess Trust' - more on their work below;

"The Little Princess Trust provides real-hair wigs to boys and girls across the UK and Ireland that have sadly lost their own hair through cancer treatment."
