Cancer affects so many lives every single day. Our active, caring, selfless, beloved Bex was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive cancer in March 2019. Despite major operations and chemo the cancer is still growing. 

The annual Swimathon for Bex originated from a group of friends who aim to raise spirits and funds for The Christie Charity, The Peritoneal Tumour Fund and a new research group, "Pur for PMP”, who hope to produce a new cancer vaccine.

There is no doubt that Bex’s journey would not still be ongoing if it wasn’t for the relentless research done by the scientists like Pur for PMP and the work done by the Christie Charity and the Peritoneal Tumour Fund. Bex and others like her are very much in their hands. 

To recognise this and further support please join us at the Swimathon for Bex 3 on Sunday 21 August, 2022. We aim to swim as many metres as possible to equal or exceed the total length of the Lake District lakes - that’s a whopping 85,000 metres or 3,400 lengths of 25m pool.

The main event is at Lazonby Pool from 9am - 2pm. To enter a relay team of 1-4 swimmers we ask for a minimum donation of £30 per team. Tag your donation with your team name and register your team by emailing swimathonforbex@gmail.com no later than Friday 19 August, 2022. You can also enter a satellite team and swim from afar. Remember you don’t have to be a fast swimmer, it’s not a race, it is a fun day to raise money for great charities.
