Story
So my name is Pete and some of you who know me will think of me as a ‘runner’….but I have never come close to running a marathon, and having only got a confirmed place 14 weeks before the big day…I’ve got my work cut out to get the training in!!
I’m running the London Marathon in support of Alzheimer’s Society in memory of my dad, John, who we lost last year to this cruel disease.
Watching someone you love slowly slip away while still being physically present is something no family should have to endure, and yet it’s a reality faced by so many.
Running this marathon is my way of honouring him, remembering the person he was, and helping to ensure that other families don’t have to face this journey alone.
Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help fund vital research, provide support for families, and bring us closer to a future where Alzheimer’s no longer steals the people we love.
It’s not lost on me how many of these links you may see or be sent, so thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting me, for supporting Alzheimer’s Society, and for helping me run in my dad’s memory.
And when I’m somewhere around mile 26 questioning every life choice I’ve ever made, just know it’s your generosity — and my dad’s voice telling me not to be dramatic — that’ll be dragging me over the finish line
