All charities are worth everyone’s support and donations, as they all do an amazing job supporting those who are going through their hardest journey in life.

So why have I chosen the Alzheimer’s Society?

My grandad, Stanley is the most amazing person in my life, he’s my Father Christmas, he’s the best gift ever. My earliest childhood memories would be that of, my grandad would dress up as Father Christmas, but one year I saw his shoes under the costume, so I could say, “that’s not father Christmas, that’s Gramps” - game was up. I didn’t care, to me my gramps was the best! My Nan too! I have fond memories of holidaying with my grand parents - from Great Yarmouth to Cornwall. Unfortunately, those living with dementia lose precious memories like these. Sadly, my grandad was diagnosed with Dementia over 10 years ago, which as a family, we’ve watched him succumb to the symptoms of dementia. I was so worried that one day he might not recognise me or his great and great great children. That is why I’m fundraising and taking on the Sydney marathon in honour of my granddad, Stanley, and all those families who need the support. Alzheimer’s doesn’t discriminate - it affects us all.

What do the Alzheimer’s Society do?

Working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future.

Where your donation goes.

£25 covers the cost of printing 43 Memory Handbooks.These handbooks help people living with dementia to understand their memory and directing them to appropriate support.

£50 could onboard a companion call volunteer with us, helping keep loneliness at bay. The kindness and commitment of our volunteers makes a real difference to the lives of those affected by dementia.

£100 will help us to process two safeguarding cases. When people are at risk of harm, the expertly trained safeguarding team works hard to find a solution that keeps people safe, healthy, and happy.
