Sepsis accounts for 48,000 deaths annually in the UK, that’s more than breast, bowel and prostate cancer put together. Sepsis is what happens when our immune system overreacts to an infection. Symptoms initially present as flu like but can rapidly deteriorate into a life threatening condition.

Story

Titanic Quarter Cycling Club have chosen UK Sepsis Trust as their charity partner for 2017 in memory of Aaron McCarter who died of sepsis aged 18 months.

Aaron was seen by numerous professionals who didn't spot the signs of sepsis thinking he had a tummy bug or ear infection, and he died after 4 days in paediatric intensive care.  Doctors tried everything to save him but it was too late.

We want to support the UK Sepsis Trust to raise awareness amongst professionals and the public because the sooner sepsis is spotted the greater chance of survival.
