I am taking part in the Great North Run 2022 on Sunday 11th September, running as part of team Ectopic Pregnancy Trust! 

Ectopic pregnancy is a common, life-threatening condition that is the leading cause of maternal death in the first trimester of pregnancy. An ectopic pregnancy occurs when an embryo grows outside of the womb, and the pregnancy can never be saved. 

This condition affects 1 in 80 pregnancies in the UK alone, which is equivalent to approximately 12,000 women in the UK being diagnosed with an ectopic pregnancy every year. These statistics, however, are thought to be an underestimation and it is believed the true number of ectopic pregnancy cases may total to more than 30,000 per year in the UK alone.

I have chosen to raise crucial funds for The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust because this will help to provide ongoing support, operate the helplines, run the website, teach the doctors and nurses, and create more leaflets, posters and information packs to be placed in hospitals across the UK. I aim to raise £200 in the lead up to the Great North Run 2022, and every penny donated is greatly appreciated!
