Story

Hi,

My story started in Nepal in 2016 when I travelled to Nepal from India with friends. Nepal is such a captivating country and it was sad to see what devastation the 2015 earthquake had caused to some of the cities like Kathmandu.

We travelled from Kathmandu to Bhaktapur, a World Heritage Site, where the devastation of the earthquake became even more apparant. Ruining the monuments, houses and community which depends so heavily on tourism.

Whilst there, I visited Pottery Square where I met a man selling pots. He lost his home to the earthquake and his family still live in a fabricated temporary dwelling, over one year on.

He said that families affected by the earthquake were only given around £300 from the government to rebuild their homes and business, many families are still waiting and haven't received any government support.

The experience has made me want to do something to help. So I’ve decided to go back out in September this year to take part in a 15 day trek to Everest basecamp.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and thank you for any kind donations made, every little helps and 100% of donations go to Community Action Nepal.
