Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My name is Euan, I am 12 years old and I am a student at Gordano School in Portishead. Anyone that knows me, or even has just seen me around school, will know that I am a massive fan of the London Underground. I have been interested in it since my first trip to London when I was 7, and I quickly learnt as much as I could about all of the lines and routes. So much so, that the second time we went to London, we didn’t need to take a Tube map with us.
One of the things I have long wanted to do is the “Tube Challenge”. This is where you attempt to visit every single Underground station, including all of the outlying ones, in one day. This has been done by lots of adults, but I hope to be one of the youngest people to do it. The definition of “visiting” each station is “arriving at and/or departing from”, so obviously a lot of them will be stations that we will go through, but the train must stop at them all. There are 11 lines, and 270 stations in total.
On 13th April this year, my Dad and I will be setting off from the first
station, on the route he has trusted me to plan, at about 5am, and my aim is that we will finish at around midnight. That means around 19 hours of travelling on the Underground! We will have to take enough food with us to last the whole time, as there will be no time to stop and buy any, and toilet stops could prove tricky!
I would like people to sponsor me to do this challenge, as it would be great to raise money for a good cause, whilst doing something that (hopefully...) I will enjoy. Emmaus is a homeless charity, that
helps homeless people by offering them a home in a community, and meaningful work in a social enterprise. It is about helping homeless people to help themselves, and Emmaus Bristol is the chosen charity for my school House (Cromarty) this year.
Thank you for reading, and for your sponsorship. Euan.
